In the Muslim world, young men & increasingly young women & children are being told of the "glories" of being a martyr for Islam.  There are now even children's show in the Mid-East, using costumed characters geared to encouraging children to become martyrs (source) But is this really what is happening?  Are people really being shown how to become martyrs?

What does it mean to be martyred for a cause? Imagine if any Muslim walked into any Church, government office, or even a funeral in a Western country & said loudly, "Jesus is not God" (see Qur'an sura 5:75) -- what would happen to this person?  Would a mob form & start cursing the person?  Would the crowd seize the person & beat them to death?  Would men carry the person away & behead them, perhaps burning their body & dragging it through the streets as the mob cheers?  No, of course not.
